Schools open for students on Tuesday 26 August 2008. Motorists are cautioned to be on the alert for students walking and waiting for buses along the highways of the county.

Motorists are also cautioned to be especially alert for buses that are stopped on the highway for the purpose of loading or unloading students. It is a violation of state law to pass a school bus in either direction when the bus has its red lights flashing. Drivers will be making practice runs on Monday 25 August 2008.

The safety of our children is in the capable hands of our drivers. Distractions caused by students who don't follow the rules threaten the health and safety of others. Parents are encouraged to talk with their children about the importance of good bus riding behavior. The driver needs to focus on what is going on outside of the bus.

Parents can contact the bus driver serving their area for approximate times for pickups. They should be similar to last year's schedule unless there are major changes in that route schedule.

#977 Judy "Polly" Hartman • County line to Sweedlin Valley and into Corner Road • turn around at Dale Walker's to Hott and Miller Building to meet Bus #877 • continue on Rt. 33 to Franklin schools • may return to BES based on need

#853 Steve Lambert • Begin in Timber Ridge and turn around in the Simoda area • go to Rt. 33 at Gateway • then on to the Riverton area for pickups • then go south on Rt. 28 to North Fork Elementary School

#453 Rodney Hedrick • Begin at the south end of Dry Run Road to Thorn Spring Road • south to Sinnett's Lane to Sandy Ridge • then to Propst Gap and continue to Franklin schools

#177 Charlotte Hoover • Moyers Store to state line • across Hiner Mill Road to Black Thorn to Sinnett's Lane • Moatstown to Rt. 220 including stops on Rt. 220 to Franklin schools

#7704 Jack Lambert • Deer Run area beginning on Troublesome Valley Road at Rt. 33 and ending on Kiser Gap Road • continue on Rt. 33 to Franklin schools

#077 Wayne Price • Crummett's Run area beginning at Elmer Bodkin's • then to Big and Little Stoney Run area, making pickups along the way to Brandywine Elementary School • then to Franklin schools

#278 Elden Puffenbarger • Begin pick ups in Brushy Fork area to Rt. 21 • then south to county line • turn around and go north on Rt. 21 to Stoney Run Road • then to the Navy Base for pick ups and on to Brandywine Elementary School • then to Hott and Miller Building and exchange with Bus #877 • then to the Franklin schools

#247 Lisa Raines • Smith Mountain Road to Rt. 28 • then south on Rt. 28 to the 4U Restaurant • turn left onto Rt. 9 (Harper Gap Road and the Harmon Hills Road) to Riverton • meet other buses and go on to North Fork Elementary School.

#7708 Diana Redman • Roaring Creek Road to Onego • then up Brushy Run • then proceed to Riverton Community Building to make exchanges • then proceed through Roots Run to Rt. 33 • continue to Pendleton County High School
