Pendleton County High School Educators Rising members recently attended the 2025 Spring WV Educators Rising Conference at Canaan Valley Resort, March 12-14. The career technical student organization's mission is to inspire and grow current and rising educators to become community leaders and advocates for high quality education. This is accomplished through high school chapters and courses, along with being involved in conferences and competitions.
Pendleton County High had six members participate in the event this year. Those attending the conference were Sam Eason, Callie Dunn, Larissa Greathouse, Lydia Heavner, Paigelyn Long, and Vivian Pownell. During the conference members were able to network with Educators Rising members from across the state and enjoy educational sessions, including the WV Teacher of the Year, Mr. Seth Skiles.
Members attending the spring conference can participate in competitive events, trying to earn a trip to the National Conference to compete. This year the following members competed: Eason in the Job Interview Contest; Greathouse and Long in the Interactive Bulletin Board; Heavner in the Exploring Supporting Services Careers; and Pownell in the Children’s Literature kindergarten through third grade.
Congratulations
to Heavner for placing 3rd in the Exploring Supporting Service Careers focusing on Reading/Math Interventionist; Eason for placing 2nd in the Job Interview; and Pownell for earning 1st place in the Children’s Literature kindergarten through third grade with her book (written and illustrated) Calico Dragon. Pownell will be competing in June 2025 at the National Educators Rising Conference in Orlando, Florida.
